The 12th annual Milano Tattoo Convention was a great success despite
a rocky takeoff for may of the visiting artist. Thanks to the first
snowstorm of the year many flights were delayed or cancelled going
through New York. Our own Brad Fink allmost didn't make it after flying
from St.Louis to Chicago only to find out that all flights to JFK were
cancelled. Brad was then flown back to St.Louis to catch a flight to
Atlanta, on to New York and to Milan only this time with no bags,
portfolio, equipment, clothes, or mechandise. Luckily the convention
was UNBELIEVABLY busy and Brad was able to catch some work even without
a portfolio.
Initially it was bad luck all around when Chappy's
wife (Chappy works at Iron Age in St.Louis) had a family emergency and
couldn't make it, and Claire who is in school was told she would be
flunked out for missing any classes....after buying a ticket. But the
show was amazing thanks to all of Miki Vialetto's hard work and
organization. We had fun working with Marni from Perfection Tattoo in
Texas (who filled in for Claire) and I think Chappy's mind was blow
away by the convention, so maybe that helped make up for being a little
lonely without the misses.
Milan and London are both top notch star studded events and the crowds
are there to back it up. This is one show that is worth the plane
ticket for any tattoo enthusiast. Besides, who doesn't want an excuse
to get to Italy or London for a visit.
That's Chappy, Brad, and Kevin, with Marni and Michelle in front. The right hand picture is Brad, Mo Copoletta, and Brad's wife Deborah. Mo owns The Family Business in London, Brad and Mo were separated at Birth.
