What a weekend, I'm shot. Martha Stewart must be domestic Wonder Woman,? all that entertaining is hard work. We had a great time though.? Lots of? hubbub one friend passed out cold in the middle of the yard. ? Lucky for us we had our shop doctor on hand. Dr. Dave came to the rescue, What a guy.? Steve Bedford led a crew out to the beach for surf lessons and apparently Adrianne wins the prize for best beginner.? Steve says she jumped right up on the board rode a couple waves just like that.? Chuck? got up a couple times and nobody drowned, thanks Steve good job!!!!? During the football throwing Chuck took out the windshield of our Volvo with his bionic arm I think he was aiming for Connecticut or something. He didn't hit the Riv? that's all that counts.? (I still gotta give you trouble Chuck)
It was great to see everyone having a good time.? The mini-bike got a workout Brad managed not to crash it in his drunken maiden voyage.? Keith slept in the yard there were so many bodies sprawed about in the living room he couldn't make it up to his room. There were hot rods all around, I love seeing the cars scattered about the yard. I 'm thinking we'll need to have a post party though for all those who couldn't make it. Demo derby party at the track? We'll see.? I gotta get some sleep? there's tattoos to do tomorrow and I'm sleepy. More tomorrow.

It's finally here our big party in th Hamptons. Both shops will be closed Saturday. We'll be up and running on Sunday hopefully no one will be too hung over, maybe bring aspirin for your artist. Last year was fun hopefully this year the weather will hold out for us. We're going to attempt another game of croquet. That had to be aborted last year, Jamie didn't play well with others and those balls hurt when they hit your ankles. The surf report is looking good our friend Bedford will be taking out a party of surfers including Seth and Chuck. Chuck's new to the game I suggested he remember his water wings. Hopefully all will go well. You'll remember I auctioned off the last sheet of flash from Friday the 13th on Ebay the proceeds will be buying our keg for the weekend, thank you Joe and Sebastian! Should be a roudy weekend all around, don't worry I'll get pictures to embarass everyone with on Monday.

It's that time again, Friday the 13th. 13 dollar tattoos with a lucky 7 dollar tip. Bring your 20 dollar bills. No credit cards. Doors open around 12pm and the fun ends when we say so. First come first served. You will wait, you may only pick from the flash that has been drawn for the day, no necks/hands/backs/anything else we don't want to do, and no being? a pain in our collective asses. This is a 20 dollar tattoo.? |

So a bunch of us were over at Paladar the other night after work and Peggy tells me about this lady that came by the shop the other day. She didn't come in to get tattooed she came in as a sales representative. We were'nt interested, we don't need a water cooler the shop is waaay to small for such do-dads. So the lady is about to leave but then she says ,"Oh since I'm here I should ask you about a tattoo I was thinking of getting." She's like, " I wanted to get some clovers with a swastika in the middle"
Peggy - "EXCUSE ME"
Lady - "I'm half Irish and half German and was trying to think of something to represent both countries"
Peggy explains this may offend some people is she sure she wants a swastika maybe she could get something else to portray Germany (a bratwurst or even a big pile of sauerkraut). The lady ponders this and decides that maybe she should think about it a little more.
WOW. Peggy swears the lady wasn't a racist, just clueless.
The picture to the left is not the lates tattooed felon splashed across the news. No, that is Man Woman the artist and swastika advocate. Man Woman has made it his mission in life to redeem the swastika as a symbol of love and good fortune. Way back when I got my first tattoos I remember seeing the book Modern Primitives that featured Man Woman. Back then that book was FAR OUT this tattooing thing hadn't really caught on yet and there wasn't an option to pierce anything besides your ears unless you were punk rock enough to push a safety pin through your nose. Man Woman and all the people profiled in Modern Primitives were real radicals back then. There was no talk of tattoos as trends. This was the late 80's. No celebrities or movie stars were seen in People magazine bearing tattoos. It wasn't popular, there weren't even any good tattoo magazines.
You can read more about Man Woman's, "lifelong seach for the historic truth about the swastika and his journey to detoxify it from the sins of the Nazis" and check out some of hiw artwork at the links above.
Perhaps Man Woman would be pleased to know there's a new generation oblivious to the negative connotations of his chosen sign.
