Everyone knows, I like traditional tattoos. That's my thing. Even if they're not entirely traditional, I like color tattoos. Last night I went to Marisa's (of Needles and Sins ) book release party to check out her new book and get a copy, to have, on my shelf. That's what I do, buy tattoo books to have and hopefully use as reference someday to justify the money spent. I looked through Marisa's book and I walked out with three copies. One for myself and one for each shop. Marisa is my friend and I know her to be a very smart and talented lady, but black work tattoos would not be listed in my interest as a tattooer. I knew she would put out a nice book but this book is mind blowing. I can't wrap my head around some of the stuff in there. It's not a cheap book (to order online whith shipping it's $169.35) but weighing in at 6 pounds with an embossed cover, nothing but pages (536) of gorgeous color photos you will see why the price tag is more than justified. Back in the late 80's Ed Hardy published Tattoo Time and it changed what we all thought was possible with tattoos by assembling a collection of work beyond the status quo. This is another book that raises the bar once again and proves that tattooing truly has no limits.

Another summer has flown by way too quick. Such a bummer. I wanted to post a note to let everyone know that Daredevil and Fun City are both closed Monday for Labor Day unless you have an appointment booked with someone.
Summer on the Lower East Side is so much fun. I can't help but be sad this time of year. Only in summer do we get to see who wins the prize for boldest anti-establishment back piece. (Yes that's real) I figured this was a good labor day picture because it includes some patriotic themes as well. He was nice enough to pose with some karate chop moves. wow. |

Jet lag has worn off and the horrible bug in my stomach has been evacuated and I can get caught up on some blogging. Here's a few pictures from Hawaii including shots from Steve and Tiffs wedding, enjoy.
It's been a busy week at the shop, Terry Ribera and Ryan Mason were with us all week and are both heading out tomorrow. Terry will be back to Daredevil in two weeks and Ryan is off to Helsinki, we'll get to see him again in London .I booked our tickets today and am looking forward to London show#5.

We made it home. Big Steve is married, freshly tattooed and probably still sunburned. I'm still wacked on jet lag. And New York is sticky. We have exciting stuff coming up Ryan Mason is visiting this week we have a new artist starting at the shop (Andre Malcolm , who does great Japanese style work) I'll be posting more later to catch up on all shop news. In the meantime check out Peggy Punch pictures from our party. There's some racey shots in there. Watch out.
We had lots of hot rod friends at the party. There's nothing like a car show in the yard.
The chopped shoebox belonged to Chris Marotta who visited. Chris will be missed.
