I know, it took me long enough but finally here's my little home movie from the London Show. We had a blast, again. This show rocks and it's huge. Tobacco Dock is not your average show venue. The building was built around 1812 in London's East End and sports brick vaults in the basement, timber beams, cast iron. In the 80's the entire thing was restored to be a shopping center but that didn't work out so well and now the place is empty most of the time. Good for us because it's about the fanciest digs anyone could hope to tattoo out of. Mark your calendar for next years show this one is definitely worth the trip. And also I need to thank my friend Mike Mok for the providing the tunes
We are happy to add another lady to the ranks. NY girl Marina Inoue is now tattooing out of both Daredevil and Fun City. Here's what we know: she's vegan, straight edge, enjoys trashy crime novels and is rumored to be Mormon, which would explain why she doesn't dance. She says she wanted to work at Daredevil so she could hang out with Brad Stevens, but really who doesn't want to hang out with Brad Stevens. Her favorite color is grey and she likes cupcakes and pizza. Check out her portfolio on either the Daredevil or Fun City sites.
Speaking of Brad Stevens, he's back home from Barcelona and the other Brad, (Fink that is) will be in Philly with Big Steve and the Iron Age crew this weekend for the Philadelphia Tattoo Festival.
Say hello to those guys if you're out that way looks like there's lots of good stuff going on for the weekend. We'll be here in NY shivering in the cold wet weekend.
The buck stops here folks! Or should I say, STARTS here!
Since the inception of Devil City Press, my good friend and business partner, Michelle Myles, has been trying to get me to contribute. The asking turned to more asking, then turned to pleading, then to threats!!! And then into guilt trips! You know, the one’s dear old mom used to use. So much in fact, it’s been weighing on me like a ton of bricks. I’m sitting here in pitch darkness, at 6:14 in the morning, starting this, MY FIRST BLOG!!!
Marisa over at Needles and Sins just posted am awesome profile on our own Amanda and he latest tattoo project. Here's a clip... Click here for the full story.
We could start with the usual "how'd you get into tattooing" questions but I'm not feeling like foreplay today. I wanna get the dirt on the experimental tattoo projects you're working on now. Will you still respect me if we hit it right away? Describe the project.
I have so many ideas I can't sleep at night!
Ten people in symbiosis with their own painting. The design starts on the participant's body and travels onto the canvas behind them. I am not charging for the tattoo work, I am asking that people make a donation to the Henry Street Settlement. Henry Street is a non-profit organization that has been active in providing healthcare, housing, senior services, etc. for the Lower East Side community in Manhattan for over 100 years. They also recognize the importance of art and have many wonderful art-based programs and workshops....this is area where I am hoping to direct the money. When the project is completed, I'd like to have an exhibition showcasing all of the work.
Once again we're on our way to Merry Ole England for the Fifth Annual London Tattoo Convention . Am I ready and all packed to go? Of course not. The Daredevil troup leaving tomorrow will be myself Brad (Fink), Big Steve, Amanda, and Mina. Kyle, Chappy and Chris will be joining us from Iron Age. If you'll be out that direction stop by and say hello.
Seth drew the poster this year. Queen Elizabeth was a really cool chick but Seth's version made her even cooler. Look at those tats.
