This Friday at Tattoo Culture Marisa Kakoulas (formery Marisa DiMattia) celebrates the launch of her new blog NeedlesandSins.com , "a blog focused on the art of tattoo and it's surrounding culture" Marisa is a friend of mine and by far my favorite tattoo blogger. Marisa has a sassy, smart take on the tattoo world and has a unique perspective as a heavily tattooed New York Lawyer. Marissa created and used to blog for the now defunct Needled.com. Needles and Sins branches out with more writers and more subject matter including graffiti, music, burlesque...."in essence, a daily lowdown on the lowbrow."
With so many uninformed, untattooed pretenders jumping into the tattoo world these days Marisa gives us a welcome narrative to the goings on around us in the world of tattooing.
The party starts at 7PM and runs until 10PM. Tattoo Culture studio and art gallery is located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Photos by Sean Toussaint will be on view, and there will be tequilq, uh oh.

Never mind- Craig found a model- Thanks!!
Fashion photographer Craig McDean is looking for a female model to film getting tattooed on her inner right thigh for a project with ShowStudio.com .
They would cover the cost of the tattoo, they would want to film the models facial reactions during the process. The idea is to, "film the needle in slow motion really really close piercing the skin"
I imagine the senario to look something like the awesome figurine at left.My only problem with the "Day in the life of a tat zapper" statue is, Why does the guy have his shirt on? Everyone knows real men tattoo with no shirt. And why are her panties still on? you can't get to her neck while she's wearing her panties.

A photo of Marilyn getting tattooed by Amanda was featured in the New York Times today. The photographer
Suzanne DeChillo came into Fun City a couple weeks ago while Marilyn was getting her
badger worked on by Amanda. She told us she got a
couple of stories in the Metropolitan Diary and one of them was about a
tattoo. She was very friendly and asked if she could come take photos
of us and of the shop and they were actually used! Click here to read the excerpt
