Today was a sad day for me and Kevin, we buried our dog Sara. Ever since we did the TV show people ask about our dogs that they got to meet on the show. I've been saying for a while that they're doing good but that Sara's really old, 17 at least. It finally caught up with her. Sara has been with me since I started tattooing. Before we had Daredevil I worked by myself across the street in an apartment. When people came in I would warn them that she would jump all over them to say hi but as soon as I started tattooing she would curl up in a ball under my chair. She kept me company on many road trips I'd pack me and the dog up and head out in my old car. I could sleep on the side of the road and no one could sneak up with those big bat ears looking out. It's been a long time since Sara jumped on anyone or since she could hear anything for that matter but she still kept us company and cheered us up by being so sweet and ornery all at once.
We're definately the crazy dog people, no kids, just dogs we adore. 17 years is a long time. Sara went with me from one place to the next friends have come and gone but she lasted through all the trials and turmoil the days brought and made it though all the good ones too. The lessons I learned from Sara: You don't need a fancy dog, or any particular kind of dog. Whatever you get you're gonna love. Sara was taken from some guy on 14th street who was gonna kill her. She was skinny, had a broken leg and cuts. A little TLC and we got a dog that lived a long, healthy life. Don't buy a dog from a store, their dogs come from puppy mills , For that matter, don't buy a dog! There's lots of dogs out there that need homes Mutts are the healthiest and they haven't been bred in to shapes and / or sizes that will give them a life of pain and suffering. Adopt !
